Serge Ibaka worth 10 million a year

The Oklahoma City Thunder and the league’s reigning league leading shot blocker Serge Ibaka have agreed to a 4-year deal with $40 million guaranteed. Serge Ibaka of the Oklahoma City Thunder had a break-out season, posting career high numbers in almost every category. Ibaka and the young Oklahoma City Thunder advanced to the 2012 NBA Finals, but were cut short against the Miami Heat.

2012 Stats:
  • 9.1 points per game
  • 3.7 blocks per game
  • 7.5 rebounds per game

Ibaka has played 3 years in the NBA and only at 22 years of age, there’s a lot more to come in this big man’s career.

Ibaka’s wingspan and amazing shot blocking skills have been compared hall of famer Dikembe Mutombo. This long-term deal is outstanding news for the OKC Thunder.

What does this mean for reigning 6th man of the year James Harden?

Sam Prestie and the Thunder front office could potentially move on from Harden next off-season according to rumors. Also, Harden came out to the public and said “I wouldn’t mind signing with the Phoenix Suns.” This means that Harden will likely test the free agency waters in 2013.

The Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies and Charlotte Bobcats are a few potential wildcats in the mix for James Harden, if the Thunder don’t negotiate a deal for their 6th man.
